Even though this was a uni text, I unironically enjoyed reading it. It was genuinely funny contrasting the normal realities with Arabella's notions of grandeur and literary heroism.
It was a little strange how much they seem to have hated French literature though. Other than some problematic elements invariably found in classic texts, it was a fun little romp.
The ending felt very rushed. In one chapter, a doctor tells her that she's delusional and the books were fiction, and by the next chapter she marries Glanville and the book ends. It would've been more satisfying if the end of the book was the climax, and we spend multiple chapters with her exploring her exposure post-realisation.
