3.75 stars would be a good bet for this first book in the series.
I was very confused with my review of this book.
The first 60 percent gave me very mixed emotions, I was angry, confused, trying to get a hang of things to almost putting the book down forever and never picking it back up. I never truly connected to the characters honestly, but the story is what kept me going. Once I hit the 60 percent mark it started getting really interesting and the pace picked up and there were major reveals throughout.
We start to see the true natures of most of the characters, it was like I was looking at them through a curtain and suddenly I was peeling it all back and facing them naked.
Some of the plot twists were not what I quite expected.
All in all this book was a good read I will be carrying on with it.
****SPOILERS BELOW****
Talking about the heroine, it was really hard to connect to her or even follow her different personality changes. I mean her being a human would make her the most emotional person around all of the Farie world since she is capable of all those things but she was quite the opposite going from ice cold to warm the next that’s the only problem I had here because it was contradictory behaviour for one person.
She was killing someone off for the first time in life and then going about her day the next, to burying the body in the middle of the night to attending coronation parties the next.
I maybe criticising a little harsher than I meant to but maybe it all adds up to her traumatic childhood experience and maybe she just had to grow into the person she is now to adapt to the situation and get tough.

Didn’t like any of the characters. Not particularly interested in the plot.

I absolutely loved everything about this book. It has an interesting world, morally grey but still lovable characters, and a plot twist that left me truly satisfied.

This is like a 4.2 star book
As I’m halfway through the second book, I really only found a few scenes stand-out memorable for the first book. The story and plot is good, though.
I do recommend this book, but only if you plan on continuing into the second book.
