Very enjoyable! A return to form by starting with the true killer and working backwards, plus an added twist.

I think this book had a different translator because a few phrases felt off ("search me" instead of "beats me").

I had not heard of this book or author before, but got it as an ALC from Libro.fm. According to the parenthesis in the title this is the fourth book in a series that feature Detective Galileo. The plot was interesting and had me hooked from the beginning. I liked the way some of the facts of the case(s) were revealed. I didn't notice any discrepancies with the timelines, or other facts that matter. If you like mysteries and have any interest in Japanese culture, I think you would like this book. I will look for others in this series.

Not that bad a novel although I feel this is one of the weaker Detective Galileo books. The plot twist was definitely unexpected but it lacks a certain oomph compared to Salvation of a Saint and Devotion of Suspect X. Nevertheless, I needed to something like this book as of late because the books I’ve been reading have been character-focused and this focuses more on plot so it was like a palate cleanser for me. Despite that, Keigo Higashino is still one of my favorite authors and anything he releases in the future, you best believe I will be seated!
