I'm still only giving this book a star because while it was an improvement on the last book, it should not trick me that it is better. Because it is not. It so is not. Main Hoe is still lacking anything that is impressive. She still doesn't go to school yet laughably still cares about going to college. She is still making vomit sounds, I mean dialogue that I'm sure is supposed to be romantic and cute and is no way disgusting and annoying. Seriously I've never heard a stupider teen. But she's strong! Cause she calls out her tool boyfriend...for doing nothing? I mean I considered myself a feminist too before I read these books, but I'm not sure now if that's what Grace is. Quite literally she has an issue if her boyfriend wants to defend her or care for her. And ontop of that we get Hudson in her head, who becomes the new love interest. Essentially this whole book was a mess for the following reasons. I just can't keep a track without listing it out.
1. Grace. Grace will always be a major issue in these books. She's insanely annoying no matter what.
2. Jackson is still a tool.
3. There's a mating bond. I never thought that I would ever not enjoy a book with a mating bond but it was pretty stupid in this book. They just through the term around without ever discussing it, without ever mentioning it previously before the very end of the last book. And its very obvious with where she's going with this. But it was insanely stupid.
4. The writing is still very juvenile and is horrible. This book still reads like horrible and edgy fanfiction. Seriously high schoolers have written better. And there is still the major issue of the amount of name dropping and title mentioning in this book. It is insulting in both the things that are mentioned and how if the author introduces anything of substance that she assumes they don't know anything about it. I was insulted with the amount of times she mentioned Disney's Gargoyles in this book, because Main Hoe is no where near as amazing as any of the characters on that show.
5. Okay this one cannot be just me, but seriously, the first book was a copy of Twilight. This book was a crappy version of A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. Now there is some pretty coincidental things that happen between these books that they share lets go over them shall we?
Human girl turns into something supernatural? Check
Human girl goes through a "traumatic experience" for both her and her lover while she becomes immortal? Check
Has a tool lover? Check
Has some reason to be talking and working with someone that is super powerful, dark, and considered a monster to the majority of the people? Check
Is into art? Check
Has to face off a king? Check
Has to go on a scavenger hunt in order to complete a spell? Check.
Has a mating bond broken? Check.
Misting (destroy matter with a thought)? Check
There is just a little too much here for me that reminds me too much of ACOMAF and it pisses me off because it is no where near as well done. I could go on a major rant for all the reaons why, but that would go on for some time.

Hudson was the only interesting thing in this book, just because he could be deliciously bad. However he is wasted on this series and main hoe. All I can say is that I'm glad that I do not have to start the next one for a while.
