A Psalm for the Wild-built made me happy cry within a few pages because the representation hit so hard! I loved this quick, cosy read that was full of emotion, gorgeous world-building and poignant humour (that brings to mind Terry Pratchett).
Chambers has created a world where the biggest problems facing us today are solved, but the everyday things, and human nature, are reassuringly familiar in all their complexity. There were several times when I stopped reading to absorb a meaningful part of the text or follow a train of thought; this book prompts a lot of pondering! The ending leaves you to pull the various threads together to delve deeper into the overall message:. The dedication on the first page says ‘For anybody who could use a break’, and I think that’s perfect!
Definitely one I’ll reread a few times, and I’m looking forward to the sequel!

-I wish that this was illustrated. Or even a graphic novel.
-This book is really challanging my gender norms. I love it? The imagery is amazing.

This book was so unbelievably lovely. I think it’s the first SFF book I’ve read that I’d classify as low stakes and it was just so cozy and comforting. The conversations about personhood and purpose were so interesting and I loved watching Dex on their literal and metaphorical journeys. I also loved the casual queerness in here - Dex uses they/them pronouns and no one bats an eye, which is always so comforting to read about as someone who also uses they/them pronouns. Becky Chambers managed to pack a wonderful and enticing world into so few pages as well as wonderful complex characters and conversations. A great little novella.

Sibling Dex, a monk, searches for a new vocation and finds it in becoming a tea monk, caring for others. One day, when this somehow isn‘t enough anymore for Dex, they take off into the wilderness, where they meet Mosscap, a robot. Mosscap wants to find out what people need and more importantly, what Dex needs. They both go on a road trip of self-discovery, looking for meaning in life and comfort. A little philosphical, inspiring, relaxing.
This is the perfect novella for a slow day on the sofa with a mug of tea. I definitely felt that hug.

I wasn't sure if I would like this book when I picked it up - it's very different from what I usually read - but I loved it! Very philosophical, but in a good way that made me reflect.

This is the first book I have ever read where I felt completely safe in its hands on the first read. I trusted this story to lead me through a beautiful, bright future where I could feel at home and it didn't let me down for one second.

Tldr; I, too, would like to run away to the woods on my moon that isn’t facing a climate crisis, thank you very much.

A book that's really trying to be all-inclusive and kind. It was almost like the writing style was cradling me, which took me by surprise how easy this was to read. It rises many questions about ai and consciousness, and I will have to read the second one to get a satisfying ending to it, because this one ends in the middle (the story is a duology?). Despite the writing style being too easy for me i really like the themes and main plot.
