What a dark, but also a funny, book to read! I may have cried more than laughed because some parts of the writing were so beautiful and also relatable. This story and Gilda are so conflicted!

Heartbreaking. Narrator is deeply, deeply anxious and perfectly captured.

Also part-get-your-life together, part-murder-mystery. And life’s a struggle for everyone. Plenty of sympathetic characters from various walks of life.

Quietly hopeful ending.

Whoever decided to put the words "hilarious" and "delightful" in the blurb of this book owes me compensation. Don't get me wrong, this is a good book. But I was looking for a lighthearted take on mental health issues and felt that words like these communicate that. But this book is not hilarious or delightful. It's a punch to the gut in its accurate portrayal of anxiety and depression. Sure, some things are kind of funny about the story and the character. But the blurb is somewhat minimizing the rest of the book, at least in my opinion.
