I had to sit with my thoughts for a bit. I felt that this book provided me with a fun reading experience and I found myself relating a lot to the main character. But when I take a step back and look at the story as a whole, I do find something lacking. I was not a big fan of the ending; I feel like we follow Gilda through these twists and turns of anxious thoughts regarding different situations in her life and yet they are resolved far too quick for how long we spent building them up. No other character felt anything but one dimensional.
I'm excited to explore her other novels.

I will read everything Emily Austin writes because her novels are consistently fast-paces, funny and endearing.
I didn’t quite love this as much as Interesting Facts About Space but the premise is A+ and the main character Gilda was a charming blend of awkward, well-meaning, and non-confrontational. The constant mental back-flips she performed were stressful for me but the author never left anything unresolved for too long.

Captivating writing, and such an honest representation of someone struggling with mental health and the scale of humanity and our suffering. And somehow also funny? Very, very clever book.

This could have been genius, but I've found the resolution too easy and too quick. The internal monologue of the main character became tiring and rambly at the end and I feel like too many topics were addressed to give them the time they deserve. I loved Gerda tho, I loved her logical thinking and how her relationship with Eleanor progressed, very autistic vibes.
