It does not matter if I read this book or not, I am condemned to death. We all are.

A young man responds to the untimely death of his mother with a retreat inward and a complete indifference to the event and everything else in his life. When later in the story he kills a man in self defense, his strange actions surrounding his mother's death become the focus of a bewildering and sensational trial. Beautiful reflections about the nature of man and God are displayed with gorgeous illustrations in this graphic adaptation.

I was certain i was going to give this graphic novel 1 star throughout most of it. There is something about the main character that is so completely unlikable that it as hard to get through at times. But having read Camus before, and knowing he's a philosopher you really have to question the reasons for this main character to be how he is, what effect does this have on the story, what is trying to tell us? And in all the ways it made me think and philosophize on my own, this book started to have greater impact on me, and i felt it definitely worth the read. I'm definitely going to read the novel as well after this.
