If You Could See Me Now, by Cecelia Ahern

This was definitely an interesting concept, but it fell kind of flat in some parts. I love the twist on imaginary friends, especially since I had one of my own as a child. I'm not sure if it was the writing style or what, but despite the interesting storyline I found myself bored in quite a few spots.

Ahern's books (with the exception of ""PS, I Love You"" seem to be in the realm of ""fairytales for adults"" - and this book is no exception.

Luke lives with his aunt Elizabeth, in the absence of his mother, Saoirse, who is a wild, out-of-control, party-girl. Elizabeth likes being in control, doesn't like things to stray from being neat and tidy, and doesn't like any kind of fun or games.

Then one day, Ivan, arrives. Ivan is a ""best friend"" ... a kind of ""guardian angel"" who has been sent, so he thinks, to look after Luke. However it soon becomes clear that his work is not with Luke, but with Elizabeth as well. Ivan changes their lives dramatically, and Elizabeth sees what she has been missing in life.

This is a great little book if you like fantastical fairy tales.

Cecelia Ahern is one of my most favorite authors of all time. She never fails to amaze her readers with her take on magic realism. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Right from the very first page to the last. It’s a highly recommended read and one of my personal best of Cecelia Ahern’s works.

Read the first 4 chapters and decided "Why bother?" I have decided I am not a fan of Ahern's writing.

Touching, easy-to-read book, the first I have read from this author but I wouldn't mind reading another, managed to finish it in half a day, story kept me interested and I couldn't put it down!
