3.5 stars. I fount the poems of lang leav a bit irrelevant with my life. But she has this way of writing where in I will be hooked in every poem I read. Im just not a fan of modern poetry.

i want to read all of lang leavs poetry immediately. i loved this book so much. even though it’s not your “traditional” poetry, i still loved it and thought it was really beautiful. lang leav has such a charming and elegant way of writing and i loved her use of metaphors and the way she talks about love and emotions. while i did love this collection, i found some of the poems to be a little repetitive, so that is the reason why i am giving it 4 stars. overall, this book has absolutely unique and really impactful writing that i feel like will stay with me for a very long time. some of my favorite quotes are below:

“And I told him, if I am so hard to love, then let me run wild. My love is not a testament to my surrender. I will show you just how much I love you, with the inward draw of every breath—the collective sigh of the world and all its despair. But I will never give you what you want in chains”

“My heart is like a time capsule—it keeps safe the memory of you. I know it’s harder with you gone than if you had never been here at all—but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world”

“I think there is a sense of ownership in knowing, isn’t there? You let people in, and they claim parts of you—they fly their flag over uncharted territory and from then onward—you cease to belong wholly to yourself”

“‘Don’t you get it?’” he said. “‘The ones who are afraid of heights don’t trust themselves enough not to jump’”

oh god i dont even know why i give this book a chance since i hate lullabies and memories but here i am. one thing that i know for sure after finish this book is i hate Lang Leav so much because she writes completely shallow bullshit in literary form and markets it as art.

A masterpiece, each page touching a piece of my heart, some spots that hadn't been touched in a long time. Lang uses beautiful language and fluidity and speaks straight to your soul. love love love love, loved this.
