Loved it. I haven’t been able to get a remote grasp on astrophysics so I was interested in this version over NDT’s other books. I favored the second half where he discusses more philosophical concepts. (Wasn’t super interested in learning about protons and dark matter.) The chapters I liked most were titled: Why the World Is Round, The Invisible Universe, Around our Solar Neighborhood, What Earth Would Look Like to an Alien, Looking up and Thinking Big.

He stresses that scientists love to learn and completely admit to not having everything figured out. They’re competitive and curious while always searching for answers. The main takeaway from this book: We are not the center of the universe. We are simply a tiny mote of dust traveling around a medium-sized star among the Milky Way galaxy with about 100 billion other galaxies full of billions of stars. But that’s what, surprisingly, makes us special.

Really enjoyed this one; very interesting. I loved listening to LeVar Burton read it.

I listened out of curiosity. This is a great primer for not just young people, but those with little to no familiarity with astrophysics. NDT has to be THE best communicator of science ever.
