How is everyone in this book so selfish, and yet I am utterly charmed by it?  I think it's the recognition of the character flaws themselves and everyone just owning it as part of who they are.

This book was honestly so wild because it felt like it could get wrapped up around the 50% mark but a new wrench was introduced and shook everything up.

And we never even met the asshole brother that also abandoned them and his other responsibilities and then dumped his new pregnant wife and shitty MIL on them!!!

I'm glad I picked this up blind because I probably would have stayed away otherwise. For historical romances I prefer to read the books with a modern perspective. That said I'm glad I read it, a cute little story if a little afflicted with "written in the 50sism".
