It's like an episode of Doctor Who, just in audiobook format. I really liked it. Read by Catherine Tate(Donna), which is a huge plus. I'll definitely be checking out more audiobook DW stories. This one ran about two and a half hours.

Listened to the version read by Catherine Tate, love her as a narrator. A fun adventure.

"http://nwhyte.livejournal.com/1286105.html#cutid1[return][return]An audiobook original, read effectively by Catherine Tate. Standard stuff - earth threatened by 'orrible aliens, Donna gets a brief romance, base under siege; what drags it down, unfortunately, is that the base under siege is Dover immediately before Dunkirk, and my suspicion of disbelief is rather shattered by the idea that an alien assault and massive loss of personnel would not disrupt the intricate planning of such a key operation. If you do a historical story for laughs, make sure it is funny; if you do it didactically, as is the point here, you need more verisimilitude than this."

I didn't like this one because it was much too similar to "Pest control" which was awesome. It also had the Doctor and Donna visit 1940. How many times can the Doctor visit WWII era (and all in UK I might add) before he runs into himself. Or the universe explode or something?

This audio book was narrated by Catherine Tate and she did a phenomenal job, if not for her narration this would not be worth listening to. However, I felt this story was a little hard to follow at times, especially at the beginning. The Doctor and Donna parts were great; Catherine Tate did an incredible job of mimicking the spirit of the Tenth Doctor. The parasitic aliens in this story felt very recycled as did the overall plot. Still an enjoyable story just not the best DW has to offer.

This is a book only available on audio, and it is read by Catherine Tate, who played Donna on the tv show. If you've seen season four, you'll recall that Tate did a perfect imitation of the Doctor (David Tennant) in one episode. This gave me great confidence that she would read this book with ease. Apparently, I was wrong. Tate fails at doing not only the Doctor's voice, but Donna's. Yes, I'm not sure how she achieved it, but she couldn't do a Donna voice. Also, this is kind of an historical story, taking place during World War II. But even though the Doctor hints that the events taking place are important, we are never told exactly what is going on. If you are not a WWII history buff you may be left in the dark. The story is simple enough, but the author, I think, failed to write it in a sensible manner. The character of Jarman, could have been left out completely, he literally contributed nothing to the plot. On a side note, it is really weird that Donna gets a romance with a guy who is still in his teens. I'm not sure what the author was thinking.
