I liked this. I really do love the James Patterson novels - even the co-written ones (which I always wonder if co-written means written by co-author with James' name stuck on). Anyway, these are super quick reads but fun. I also enjoyed this group of characters.

The way certain groups of people are portrayed in this book was painful and disheartening, if not expected from an author like James Patterson. This one left a sour taste in my mouth. 3 stars only because I enjoy the crimes and pacing.

This one had me on edge too much! All the stuff with Lindsay and the two guys.. the snake.. Claire/Yuki/Cindy.. ahh! I wasn't sure how I liked Cindy with Rich, but I guess it's okay for Lindsay so it's okay for me. Petgirl wasn't really a thrill.

Wow - I was braced for this one to be bad and out of touch, but somehow it was even worse than I expected. I didn't care about any of the plot lines in this book - they were all just kind of mid. Everyone has a romance sub plot as well, at least one of which just kind of appeared.

This book also stood out in terms of just how dated it felt, despite being less than 15 years old. Not only is there a bunch of blatantly racist language (I have no idea why Yuki's mum has to have a racist, Mickey Rooney-esque Japanese accent - I'd still understand she was Japanese without it), there is also a totally random transphobic sub-plot that adds nothing to the story. Why did Patterson write either of those things?? Who knows.

Anyway, I hope this isn't a death knell for the series because I've really enjoyed it so far. I guess I'll see when I read the next one.
