A little slow to get into; the narration changes are a bit jarring. But it picks up after a while, and becomes a pretty good read.

The idea was wonderful - the pacing was just off and made it feel like 150 pages of exposition at the beginning

Don’t really know what happened in this but the vibes were strong.

Officially DNFing 162 pages in (66%). AND THAT TOOK ME 2 MONTHS TO READ!

The cover is pretty… that is the only complement I have for this book.

I was over half way through this book and I realized I didn't know anything about the character, I didn't know anything about the plot, and reading this book made me feel like I didn’t understand English.
My eyes glazed over and I could not make sense of anything that was going on.

It did not help we were jumping around in time, and switching between different POV without any indication of who’s perspective we were in. The writing consistent of broken sentences and thoughts. And I was tired of waiting for any semblance of a plot or character development to happen.

An unsettling atmosphere can be the center of a great book but I can't immerse myself in the story/atmosphere if I have no idea what's going on!

I love Oyeyemi's writing, but she always leaves me wanting for something. This book was beautiful, but I wish for more of an ending. At the same time.... I cannot think of another ending that would work.
