Super cute story! - Great illustrations but the story shines here too. I can totally relate to the way a simple question asked gets a long rambly answer with lots of imaginative kid-think thrown in. Kids will have a fun time seeing where this story goes.

For: cat fans; readers looking for a playful book that emphasizes the importance of imagination.

Possible red flags: telling stories instead of answering the question.

Part of the Disney animator series featuring the work of an Disney artist. This story about a “short story made long” will appeal to children. I loved the gradual increase of blue as the story went on. And on. And on.

When Daisy's mom asks her how she got the blue spot on her dress, Daisy explains that "It all started when I was drawing during art class with a blue pen," which leads into a fantastic story of the all of the blue objects Daisy encountered during the day, none of which actually caused the stain. The first few details of the story are believable, but when Daisy tells Mama that it started raining blueberries, readers realize they are in for quite a tale. The premise of this story certainly isn't new, but it is executed fairly well. The highlight of the book is the illustrations, which are playful and bold. A fun read aloud, but not particularly memorable.
