For fans of masterful storytelling, intimate looks into the complete lives of characters (real or imagined), and the personal and researched account of a people's history.

This was a glorious and heart wrenching scream of Palestinian identity. Bath is a woman of many names and many countries.
Forced to flee Palestine as an infant with her family, Nahr ends up living in Kuwait, Jordan, and then finally returns to Palestine. The novel is written from her prison cell, as she drifts in and out of the story of her life and resistance.
I don't always read things so directly tied to topical world events, but I realized that there was no better way for me to try and understand and empathize with the horrors playing out around the world.
