I still miss the hero who died in book 1. Captain Freedom is a good add to the mix though. I like that the Unbreakables and Seventeens have been more integrated into the Mount. The new bad(s) are really bad.

Clines really knows how to write interesting and easy-to-follow action sequences. The final acts of each of these three books are white-knuckle affairs that you cant help but illustrate in your own head. It's hard not to wonder if these would be better as comic books, but the level of detail afforded by prose novels is important to the stories. I both liked and disliked the religious slant that was introduced here but it fits well with the main villain and is what would probably happen given the circumstances. More character growth was welcome for Stealth and Zzzap but I found myself missing Cerberus, and the Driver -- who I thought was really cool -- was nowhere to be seen. The lone new character for this installment was clever and refreshing. My biggest complaint is having to wait until 2014 for the next one.

What a great series. I love all the characters and Peter has an amazing imagination and has created a world where he can let it free. I am already getting antzy about the end of the series and I still have one more book to go!

Please get these books and read them. They are going to get huge and become a movie or at the very least a cool ass tv show.

Peter Clines delivers again. Ex-Heroes is without a doubt my favorite book series currently being published. Zombies are everywhere at the moment but Peter manages to keep this story fresh (no pun intended) and exciting all the while delivering an amazing tale of super heroes trying to survive in an apocalypse. Highly recommended to both fans of zombies and super heroes.

Avengers meets the walking dead is the blurb on the book. Couldn’t agree more. Excellent addition.

This novel was my favorite of the trilogy. While one might argue that bringing four genres into one book might be overkill, I found it quite entertaining and interesting. Two entirely separate genres were already brought together from the beginning, so I didn't find it any worse that two more were brought in.

I think one of the primary reasons I enjoyed it was because at this point, Clines was working with characters he had already established, rather than introducing 7 or 8 more (with the exception of one new character, who I actually quite enjoyed). Therefore he was able to focus on creating a solid, entertaining plot that captivated me to the end. I'll hand it to Clines: he's got quite a talent in making each one of his books stand alone very well, as this one did.

Overall, fun read, fun series.

Loved the focus shifting to the magician and demon. Also Dead Girl was such an unexpected character arrival.

I'm pretty shocked at how solid the series continues to be at book 3

This is a 4-star book that loses a star due to the substandard audio production, which frankly, I'm shocked ever saw the light of day. It seems as if some segments had needed to be re-narrated or something, and the patchwork is so blatantly evident, that it markedly distracts from the listening experience!

This is the first time I've ever encountered such a shoddy production. I don't know if the author is aware, but it so severely detracts and distracts the reader/listener, that he ought to be made aware and hopefully force the publisher to re-publish this edition altogether.
