Witty, humourous and thoughtful. All vibes only. You’ll go through daily journal entries of a secondhand bookshop owner’s day-to-day life. Caught myself smiling at times.

This book about books and book shops and was for me an absolute Goldilocks book. Neither too highbrow nor too low either it was infact just right.
Having been on holiday when I got it I wanted something light and something I could just dip in and out of as time allowed and for that it was perfect. Bythell's book is an easy read and his anecdotes of a year in his life are informative, acerbic and entertaining in equal measure.
I don't doubt that the irony in years to come of selling second-hand copies of his own book in his shop won't be lost on him.

I listened to this on audible, which is a medium that Shaun Bythell probably hates but hey, the book got me through my boring journey to and from work. I loved Bythell’s dry sense of humour. Perhaps being Scottish myself helped me understand his psyche and stance on life. I found the diary format of the book calming. I loved the quirky characters. A great book that I think I will venture to a bookshop and buy a paperback copy of!!

I loved hearing about all of the ins and outs of running a bookshop! As someone who was always wanted to work in one it's great to get some insight into what it's like owning a bookstore and what day to day life looks like. The crazy interactions that Shaun had with customers were very enjoyable to read about, I found is surprising how many people asked for books just to let whoever is working know their book taste.

Great book, lots of fun! Also Nicky seems like an absolute dag to work with.
