Ehh, fine. Ending is disappointing and there are a lot of side characters and plots that get no pay off. I probably won't seek out this author again.

When Carrie was accused of brutally murdering her husband’s lover, she denied it. She denied it when they arrested her, when they put her in front of a jury, and when they sent her to prison. Now she’s three years into a fifteen-year sentence, away from the daughter she loves and the life she had built. And she is still denying that she is to blame.

Tess Gilroy has devoted her life to righting wrongs. Through her job for Innocence UK, a charity which takes on alleged miscarriages of justice, she works tirelessly to uncover the truth. But when she is asked to take Carrie’s case, Tess realises that if she is to help this woman, she must risk uncovering the secrets she has struggled a lifetime to hide . . .

Absolutely loved this book. It is written through the perspectives of both Carrie and Tess, cutting from present day to past, back to when Carrie was first arrested for the murder. As the story unfolds you find yourself constantly questioning who is really guilty. Just when you think you know, a new piece of evidence surfaces, or is denied, that leaves you questioning yourself yet again. With an end that will shock you to your core, this book is a fantastic modern day thriller. Highly recommend!

This thriller was so forgettable that I couldn’t recall a single thing about it despite reading it five days prior to writing this post. A quick look at the Goodreads description jogged my memory, and now I can state with some authority that it is a decent read that probably won’t make a lasting impression! Tess Gilroy works for Innocence UK, which takes on alleged miscarriages of justice and attempts to free innocent people from prison. She has some major issues of her own that she has to face when she goes to work trying to free Carrie, who is in prison for murdering her husband’s lover.

Clear My Name está habilmente construído, deixando sempre no ar a dúvida e a incerteza.

Pretty good!

Carrie is imprisoned for the murder of her husband’s lover; but she is claiming that she is innocent. Tess from the charity Innocence UK (teamed with young colleague April) is trying to look into the case to evaluate if there might be a miscarriage of justice - and the case also reopens her deeply buried wounds.

The human aspect of the novel is played very well - both Tess and April are much more human and likeable because of the burdens they are carrying. Also these burdens and the bond they build with sharing them makes for a much better work collaboration between them! Actually, I would love for this novel to be a start of the series. These women could uncover more cases!

The plot twist is well-done and believable, backed-up by some well hidden clues. Smartly done!

So why three stars? Firstly, I find the ending being a bit rushed. Secondly - I personally I am not a fan of Tess’s final decision from the moral point.

But otherwise this was the best I have read from Ms Daly yet and I will follow her works from now on.

The pace was constantly changing with short, slow paragraphs with a chapter of juice. The time skip was an interesting choice that I appreciated but the truth was very rushed and convenient. Also the ending with Tess was out of left field.

This was a decent 3-star read all along, but the ending was terrible and so out of character! So I bumped one star down. Sorry not sorry.

This was really enjoyable a very slow start but it sped up eventually.

You're following a charity worker called Tess and the case she's working on. A lot of mystery, a lot of paperwork and a lot of prison visits.

This was a really interesting twist on the usual crime/murder mystery novel. Carrie has already been convicted and sentenced for murder, and been in prison for the last three years. Has she been wrongly convicted, or is her daughter unable to accept that her mother is a murderer?

The majority of murder mysteries or crime dramas end with the murderer admitting their crimes once they have been confronted with the evidence, so we never really think about what happens if an innocent person if found guilty. We like to think that we live in a society where this wouldn’t happen, but this probably happens more often than we’d like to admit.

It’s not clear from the start of this book whether Carrie is innocent or guilty. We follow Tess as she tries to determine whether Carrie is innocent, and if she is, who is the murderer?

There is a lot going on in this book, it keeps you guessing as you’re not sure who to believe, or what the truth is. If Carrie is innocent, who hated her enough to frame her for murder?

I couldn’t put this book down. The characters draw you in, and I was desperate to find out what was really going on. Clear My Name manages to give you enough background information about the characters throughout the book to keep you invested in them, without going into so much detail that it takes away from the pacing of the story.

Tess is a flawed character, which is what makes her so relatable and likeable. I’d love to see her in future books.
