This was pretty good, but I don't think it was as good as the first. Same kinda story for the most part but fleshes out why Mindy is as she is in part two of Kick Ass.

This is just dumb fun idk. Having a great time - just making sure not to think of the absolutely reprehensible political ideas behind a bunch of what they say lol

Kick Ass Re-Read Part 2 (or 1.5?)

When I read these books initially, this was always my least favourite entry, and I honestly don't know why? Because during this re-read I have realised its really strong and really fun. Sure it may not be as long as the other entries but its fun nevertheless.

What I liked about this was it centerd on Mindy, who let's face it, is just a way more interesting character than Dave. Her family dynamic is interesting and different, albeit simultanously super messed up. I just like the relationship she shared with Marcus, and this book did a good job of humanising her, telling the reader that whilst she may be a trained assassin she's still a little girl, something we tend to forget whilst reading.

I did have a similar issue, with this that I had with the first. And that is, it's all wrapped up too quickly for my liking. For me Ralphie should have been the Series' main antagonist, as he just had such a meancing presence about him. I remember when I first read this, I genuinely thought that his arch would have continued onto Kick Ass 2. But sadly, it was just another rushed ending, that always kinda left me feeling... meh.

With that being said. I think this is one of the more beautifully designed and drawn entries of the series, at least my copy is, with the dark layout!

On to Kick Ass 2!

Hit Girl was undoubtedly the most refreshing character in Kick-Ass (book 1). Her dangerous, violent and hilariously sarcastic demeanor is delightful - I was very much looking forward to this.
Sadly, Mark Millar did not deliver. The plot was way too disjointed and rushed for my liking, and it felt like he was trying too hard to make Hit Girl an even cooler character. But above all things, the momentum built up in the first book was completely sapped.

I think I had hoped this would show another side to hit girl through her interaction with school etc. But it was just a basic vigilante story with the writer getting jibes in about teenage girls. I enjoyed the style of the artwork though.

Hit-Girl in one scary girl... I like how there isn't no superpowers in Kick-Ass, but there's something about the story or something that doesn't make the comic the best thing ever. But it's good, there's no doubt about it.

It was a surprise for me that I actually liked this graphic novel. I've watched the movie and the gore and brainless violence in it were ofputting. This version came out much cooler and I'm glad I gave it a reading chance.
