When I first heard about The Accident Season, the unique summary very much pulled me in. I couldn't wait to read about what was happening to the characters and why they always seemed to be hurt during one month out of the year. After starting the book, however, I found that it was not at all what I expected. The writing was a little hard to follow and I found myself drifting constantly because of the slow start. I was unable to be drawn in and I found that this was, unfortunately, just not the book for me.

I found this book absolutely mesmerising. It read like the most beautiful poetry; it was raw and captivating and stunning. I loved it.

It's one of those books I liked but didn't love. It was a strange read with flashes of beauty and darkness. Full review to come.

I went into this book with very low expectations because I had started it before and never got into the characters or the plot.
I ended up being completely swept away with the magical tone of this and I loved watching it all unravel. It was a little frustrating at times how dramatic the main character was and how she would describe situations. Then I think back to myself at that age and I can kind of get it.
I like how this dealt with family secrets. Sometimes those are the hardest to hear and the hardest to share and this novel definitely reflected that. I think the end result was something hauntingly real and entertaining.

AHHHH it was just... SO good. I know a lot of people did not enjoy this one, but I loved the way everything came together in a haphazard manner. There were a lot of unspokens in this book, a lot of having to simply ASSUME events, and I loved every minute of it. I am, of course, now in a reading slump. Boo.

Well that ended up being completely different than what I thought it was going to be. No spoilers, but jeez. Way more contemporary than the title leads you to believe.

I couldn't put this down. I thought about it when I wasn't reading it and I just NEEDED to finish it. The book is so fast paced and has such a strange, dreamy quality to it that is addicting and leaves you wanting more and more.
