My Thoughts so far:

(Page 158) I am enjoying the story but I really thought it would be different. I thought it would be about her being a liaison between Ixia and Sitia. I thought that maybe Valek, Janco and Ari would be in it. (I have a feeling they will come into it) I just feel like it is a lot like the second one. The Story is interesting but it is just not developing much. I want to see her back in Ixia. I am enjoying seeing how her relationship with her brother is developing.

(Page 250)
Okay so I totally take back the comments I made earlier. I am loving it. As soon as Valek came into it the Story just keeps getting better and better. I am sad it is the final book in the series. But I think Opals story in Storm Glass will be a good read.

I am sad that I have now finished it. When I was reading fire study I was okay that it was the last one in the series. But now that is has actually ended I am sad. I still want to hear more of Yelena and Valeks adventures. Overall this book was slow at the start and then it picked up pace and got better. A lot happened at the end. I felt that it was concluded very quickly.

I enjoyed this book the most in the series so far! Fast paced and plot heavy, it answered many questions on Yelena’s magical abilities. Definitely less of a romance than books 1 & 2.

My thoughts on Fire Study
Yelena is about to face her greatest challenge. She receives a cryptic note from her Story Weaver with information on the whereabouts of her greatest enemies. With Leif and Kiki at her side, Yelena sets out to find them and save both Sitia and Ixia. But is there a traitor in her midst. In the end, she will be forced to chose between the safety of those she loves and her own life. I loved it. It was amazing. I can't put it into words how awesome it was.

My thoughts on the Study trilogy
I am in love with this series. I've loved the journey with Yelena through everything she's experienced. I'm really sad to see that journey come to an end. Lucky for me there are short stories. :) Ice Study and Power Study both occur after Fire Study, so those are the next on my to read list. This is definitely a series I will revisit.

Intens! Semua kegilaan dalam buku ini benar-benar tidak mengizinkan aku beristirahat.

After a pretty good but not great Book 2 (https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2497749087?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1), the slide to mediocrity continues with this book.

The writing is strong and quick; I flew through the first 100 pages. Ms. Snyder keeps her prose simple and the action packed and ticking along. The story picks up right after Book 2 and cracks along. Unfortunately, character and coherence is left behind in the rush. I found myself wondering quite a number of times about what was happening and how it all fit together. This is a shame given where we started.

The hurdles are all solved too quickly with Yelena discovering a new magic power solution every 50 pages. The other side characters fade even more into the background and lose importance. Pretty much all the side characters, including Valek, could have been switched without losing momentum or development. Near the end I was yawning and forgetting who was involved in the action piece (largely because I didn’t care). I wouldn’t have picked this up if this was not part of a series. This became a more standard YA fantasy novel than I expected (despite the mention of the rape and abuse) from Book 1.

The stakes of the story were never established. Despite the book saying that Yelena was out of her depth it never feel like it. I think the author tried to show the character growth but the pacing was so fast that I didn’t feel that any of the plot had any consequences.
Spoiler For example, despite the building up in the first few pages, Ferde is killed in 2 pages in service of a new villain. This was the third villain in three books which reflects the lack of continuity in this trilogy.

In the end, I am going with 2 stars for the book - with 1 star only added for the competent writing. Pass this and end your reading at Book 1 only if you can.

I was so sad to finish this series. I so love Yelena and Valek. They are wonderful characters. Watching Yelena grow from the young lady ready to die by hangman's noose grow to become such a strong heroine was exciting. She is a heroine that has fears and isn't afraid to admit it.

She is far from perfect, thank goodness, I can't stand a perfect heroine. It takes too much fun from the story. Yelena growing relationship with her family has been fun to watch, it was nice to see her admit that she might need someone else.

To be a Soulfinder was scary and poor Yelena had no clue what it meant or how to handle it. First she wouldn't ask for help then it wasn't there when she needed it the most. Read no further because I am going to add a spoiler which I normally don't. At first when Yelena thought she would have to give up Valek, and then when she thought he was dead it was heart wrenching. I felt for her and I felt sorry for myself because I have grown rather attached to the jerk. And I especially love her relationship with Kiki her horse. A better best friend a girl can never find.
