Required reading for my poetry class group project. I was a bit skeptical as most poetry tends to annoy me-especially love poetry- but this was beautiful. I really enjoyed it. Addonizio explores all facets of love, from first love, to sex, to parents, , to memory, to death. It's funny, heartbreaking, sultry, sweet. She's so clever with her syntax and imagery, as well as her formats, and I love it.

when i say i was ENGROSSED reading these poems,,,, omg the emotions i FELT. definitely timely since valentines day is coming up. addonizio wrote love, passion, motherhood and death so well that i see myself re-reading this chronically for the rest of my life.

"since there's no help, come let us kiss and part; or kiss anyway, let's start with that, with the kissing part, because it's better than the parting part, isn't it-"
