This book leaves you with a lot of questions. It makes you think a lot of the words that you have ever said to people. It makes you revise your life from childhood up to now. It’s a light book that leaves you with wonder. The characters are so alive and in fact you have seen them in real life. When I was reading the story, I felt that I am a member of this family or a friend of them!
Jack he is the typical child who is raised very well, but also make mistakes. I loved his character and how he developed. Summer which her name reflects her personality, so warm and a person who really consider the others’ feelings! On the other hand his family especially his sister! And how she sacrificed a lot and never complained about how her family but Auggie first in everything and she always the last. Now as I mentioned the family . I should mention his parents. From my humble point of view, I think they spoiled Auggie so much! I’m aware of his condition and that ppl should not be harsh on him, but still! They were so afraid to say “ no” to him , they spoiled him to much until he reached to a place where he put himself first and ignores the others’ feelings! They taught him that they will give him everything he wants! And again I know someone with his needs should be treated differently that the other members of his family but still he is not a disable! Even he himself said “the only reason I’m not ordinary is that no one else sees me that way.”&” I think the only person in the world who realizes how ordinary I am is me.” Anyhow, I loved how development of his character and how funny he is! I loved how he started to see the others feelings, I loved how he starts to accept himself! I was so so proud of what he has reached as if he was my own son!
“I think there should be a rule that everyone in the world should get a standing ovation at least once in their lives.”
“Not just the front rows, but the whole audience suddenly got up on their feet, whooping, hollering, clapping like crazy. It was a standing ovation. For me.”
At this moment I wished that I was one of the novel characters so I can hug Auggie and clap and reminds him of his words!
From hiding his face with helmet to someone else” for the first time I can remember, I wasn’t even thinking about my face. I was just smiling a big fat happy smile for all the different cameras clicking away at me.”
Everyone was running from him as if he was the plague himself to” and no one seemed to care if it was my face that was next to theirs or not. In fact, and I don’t mean to brag here, but it kind of felt like everyone wanted to get close to me.”
In general, I loved how the novel was stressing on being kind and how your deeds are the one who’s going to last forever.
“WHEN GIVEN THE CHOICE BETWEEN BEING RIGHT OR BEING KIND, CHOOSE KIND.”
“YOUR DEEDS ARE YOUR MONUMENTS.”
“‘Shall we make a new rule of life … always to try to be a little kinder than is necessary?’ ” Here Mr. Tushman looked up at the audience. “Kinder than is necessary,” he repeated. “What a marvelous line, isn’t it? Kinder than is necessary. Because it’s not enough to be kind. One should be kinder than needed. Why I love that line, that concept, is that it reminds me that we carry with us, as human beings, not just the capacity to be kind, but the very choice of kindness.”
““Such a simple thing, kindness. Such a simple thing. A nice word of encouragement given when needed. An act of friendship. A passing smile.” … etc
Kindness is what lack the world these days.

Beautiful. Just Beautiful. One of my new favorite books.
If you couldn't tell already I absolutely adored this book. I loved that we get to see the story from different peoples perspectives such as Agust himself but also his sisters and just general people around him.
Even Though Agust is only ten he didn't feel overly childish or annoying and some of his friends are just the cutest kids in the world. This book really opened up my mind and I feel like I have a new view on things like this know.

I am so excited because now I can finally watch the movie and it is directed by my favorite director so I expect it to be amazing.

I have since I read this book also watched the movie and I loved it just as much. I couldn't even tell you if I liked the book better than the movie or the other way around. This story is just utterly fantastic and I think everyone should read it. What a great coming of age story and showing people to accept each other even though we're all different. Also loving yourself. I have also since originally writing this review decided that this definitely is my new favorite book.

Review on my blog. Link in bio.

This was a great book! It made me feel happy and sad and everything in between. For Auggie I felt very bad at times, but I was proud of how things turned out. However different he is from the outside, he still is the same as everyone else, no more and no less. Beautiful book.
