Very thorough and insightful memoir of someone with an opiate addiction, from their beginnings, to time in active addiction, to eventual recovery.

I was lucky enough to receive this book from the author through connecting on TikTok.
I read it in 2 days and was so incredibly happy that I did. This book was so eye opening and is the perfect way to open your own mind to the reality’s of substance abuse as a whole.
The heart wrenching story of Erins fight with addiction and how she came clean was enough to bring tears to my eyes.
I cannot recommend this book enough.

“I saw myself like a fractured mirror, at all different ages—as a little girl, lost and scared and running from the monster she believed lived inside her. I wanted to take that little girl in my arms and tell her it wasn’t her fault. That she didn’t make herself a monster. That she could be, should be, loved. But I still wasn’t completely sure if this was true, which broke my heart a little more.”

This was my first memoir and my second ever nonfiction book so it’s safe to say this isn’t my typical read. However it has easily become one of the best reads of the year. The writing was so amazing and raw that I felt like I was with Erin the whole time, like a friend or just a shadow viewing her story. It has totally opened my eyes to this whole new selection of books which I would probably never have even considered. For that and just for how raw and real the book was it’s an easy 5 stars for me. To Erin and anyone whose struggling/has struggled- I’m proud of you and you can beat whatever you set your mind to <3
