Genuinely ruined me. At parts I enjoyed the writing more than at others and felt that the fluctuations in style took away some of the sense but overall the impending feeling of doom i got from this book was little satisfied by the ambiguous ending. About 3/4 in i realised what the 'twist ' would be but it didn't make it any less devastating. I understand the vision but the light is merely flickering like that one bulb in a horror movie- basically I wish it was executed in a different way. Not becuass the book would be better but rather  becuase my mental health would be . In short, this book is a fever dream I shudder to think I could replicate with an acid trip. I support women's rights and women's wrongs core.

The story was very hard to follow. I've seen others describe this book as a "black licorice" book, meaning you love it, or you hate it. I hated it. It was confusing, I couldn't tell what was going on, and it feels like weaponizing mental illness disguised as "imagination." There was no real climax of the story, and felt like it droned on for 100 pages more than necessary. I also dislike any animal abuse or torture so, it just did not resonate with me. It's like a puzzle that fits really poorly together.

I am very glad to be done with this book, it was making my dreams werid 🤣

I think this is a "it's not you, it's me" book cos it's definitely a book out of my range, I'm not really a horror person, and so much of it was so bizarre, but I also do still think it's an element of "it's you" because I genuinely don't understand the themes of the books aside from the main character being deeply lonely???

Had all the very weird things that you honestly aren't sure are real or not served a thematic purpose I would have liked it more, but I don't think the loneliness was enough, especially because there was no arc to it?? Expect that maybe she learns to embrace it and not care about the Bunnies?? But humans need connection??
If Jonah was real (is he real ??) and that arc was fleshed out then it would probably have been better.

I did like her unreliablity as a narrator, that was interesting to read, and I liked the comments on the university, the privileged students, and some of the ridiculousness of arts students, as former English major myself, those were funny moments.

The writing is done very well, some passages I really loved how it described her emotions/experiences,
the whole passage on the revelation of Ava being the swan was great.

Overall, this was an experience, and I don't think I'll be reading another of her books!

The main character has the “I’m not like other girls” personality, and never fails to let you forget it. The entire story and plot line follow how she is sooo different from alllll the other girls. It’s just an okay book, to me.
