I'm honestly not sure how I felt about this book. I think I really enjoyed it, but it's the type of story that you really have to sit on for a little while to process. Definitely best to go in blind and not know anything about the plot!

The main character has the “I’m not like other girls” personality, and never fails to let you forget it. The entire story and plot line follow how she is sooo different from alllll the other girls. It’s just an okay book, to me.

The Secret History X Heathers? i don’t know, i never watched heathers.

this book was insane. quite literally. everyone needs to go to a hospital. i had no idea what was going on half the time, but that’s what everyone says, no? i expected more weirdness, but this was good.
Samantha summoning her so-called demonic animals without them exploding, unlike the other Bunnies?
that was weird, but also kind of heartwarming. and i’m not going to lie, i liked Max.
i know Max is literally just Samantha’s subconscious, but he was cool. also doesn’t that mean that Ava was also Samantha’s subconscious, since she probably summoned her from a swan?
no idea

i quite liked the Workshop.
exploding bunnies for the sake of some demonic animal’s cock?
not the weirdest thing i’ve seen, honestly. also i love stags so that appearing was fun. also kill your darlings reference? i also didn’t watch that the whole way through but i was delighted nonetheless.

jonah come save us all 🙏🏻 (edit:
FUCK I DIDNT EVEN REALISE JONAH WAS ALSO A DARLING. i thought i was so slick and smart for seeing straight away that Ava was a Darling but Jonah?? that’s insane.
)

i wanted to give this 5 stars, but i don’t know, i’m stingy with my stars. i’d say, the only reason why this isn’t a solid 5 stars is because i didn’t really feel much emotions with the story? it’s interesting, weird, and i really liked it, but i just didn’t feel anything. it was just like, oh okay this is happening, that’s crazy. crazy read, and somehow, i kind of get Samantha. needless to say, i understand why people love this book, but as much as i love it, i also get why people hate it.

A highly anticipated read for me, “Bunny” was one of the most bizarre books I’ve ever read! It was one of those in which I (felt) I understood what was going on and then I absolutely did not 😆😩 Reportedly, “Bunny” was very loosely based on the 1988 film “Heathers” (which I’ve seen) and thus, the story includes themes of co-dependent friendships, frenemies, jealousy, modern day dark academia, and grandiose mental trauma (emphasis on the latter). I’m glad I’ve finally read it as I actually did end up enjoying the author’s other book “Rouge” which I read before “Bunny.” But wow, “Bunny” was at times super tough to get through.🐰

This book was very surreal! It took me a few chapters to get into it but once I was in, I was hooked. The relationships in the book are so complex, as are the characters - a lot of them were ‘love-to-hate’ characters which I enjoy. I’m not sure exactly what happened near the end, but as the whole book was very surreal I didn’t mind the ambiguity - it made sense.

I need to think on this book for a bit I think.

I know these things:
- I did fully enjoy reading this. I felt like it is a very interesting commentary on academia and girlhood and girl friendships and anyone socialized as female will definitely see themselves in one of the women in this book.
- I am too autistic for some of these unreliable narrators and the ambiguity this book. I have so many unanswered questions and also I don’t know what happened lol but I’m trying to figure it out.
- I love freaky books but this is by far the weirdest book I have read. Not in a bad way at all, just a comment.
- I wanted more about the decapitations going on in this fucked up weird town that Samantha and the Bunnies lived in.  I feel like there was a bunch of symbolism with that and I feel like it wasn’t fully wrapped up in a way that was pleasing to me personally.

I am torn on whether to do an in depth literature review on this book or whether to live and let live with this book. I think Ava would say “Smackie don’t fucking type that all out.” So I’ll end the review here: Good and weird book- I recommend it. 4 stars.

Please for the love of g-d read content warning before reading this. You should know what you are getting into. Take care of yourself!!!!!

This book is what I assume an acid trip would feel like. Think Heathers, Mean Girls, and Frankenstein, but on acid.
