I'm honestly not sure how I felt about this book. I think I really enjoyed it, but it's the type of story that you really have to sit on for a little while to process. Definitely best to go in blind and not know anything about the plot!

I am very glad to be done with this book, it was making my dreams werid šŸ¤£

I think this is a "it's not you, it's me" book cos it's definitely a book out of my range, I'm not really a horror person, and so much of it was so bizarre, but I also do still think it's an element of "it's you" because I genuinely don't understand the themes of the books aside from the main character being deeply lonely???

Had all the very weird things that you honestly aren't sure are real or not served a thematic purpose I would have liked it more, but I don't think the loneliness was enough, especially because there was no arc to it?? Expect that maybe she learns to embrace it and not care about the Bunnies?? But humans need connection??
If Jonah was real (is he real ??) and that arc was fleshed out then it would probably have been better.

I did like her unreliablity as a narrator, that was interesting to read, and I liked the comments on the university, the privileged students, and some of the ridiculousness of arts students, as former English major myself, those were funny moments.

The writing is done very well, some passages I really loved how it described her emotions/experiences,
the whole passage on the revelation of Ava being the swan was great.

Overall, this was an experience, and I don't think I'll be reading another of her books!

The main character has the ā€œIā€™m not like other girlsā€ personality, and never fails to let you forget it. The entire story and plot line follow how she is sooo different from alllll the other girls. Itā€™s just an okay book, to me.

Would I recommend this book to most people? No. Could I not look away? Yes.

I would recommend reading theories and discourse about this book after to get a better understanding.

Really liked this book. It was gross and weird and dark and very fun to read. Like if Mean Girls was really dark and twisted. I do feel like the ending was lacking somethingā€”if not more explanations, perhaps it just needed MORE. Just felt kinda in line with the rest of the book and not necessarily the huge climax I was hoping for. If you like weird horror books, youā€™ll enjoy this one.

The whole review!

The book spoke to me on so many levelsā€¦ Until the end.

Iā€™ll start with things I like:
At the end of chapter 7, I felt the way they were talking about her (poem). How they wanted ā€œmoreā€ from her.

As a girl whoā€™s not accepted by people around me, I related to her suffering. Of wanting to be accepted by others, even by those who you donā€™t like. And Samanthaā€™s relationship with Jonah reminded me of how often I put those who actually cared about me behind. Itā€™ll keep me up at night being reminded of it.

The creations being creatures combined of the girlsā€™ desires, love and hatred in chapter 11 and later on with Max confused me after getting to the end.

Which is something that made me lost for words, and not in a good way.
Was any of it real? What is real? We know the Bunnies and Max existed, since the Bunnies almost died because of him, but why were the other creationsā€¦ Almost always failures?

I have so much to say, but Iā€™m growing tiredā€¦ Iā€™ll give it a 3.75, just because the ending isā€¦ Definitely something.

This book was very surreal! It took me a few chapters to get into it but once I was in, I was hooked. The relationships in the book are so complex, as are the characters - a lot of them were ā€˜love-to-hateā€™ characters which I enjoy. Iā€™m not sure exactly what happened near the end, but as the whole book was very surreal I didnā€™t mind the ambiguity - it made sense.
