It... is definitely from 1985. And not just because people smoke indoors. There's a LOT of dubious consent happening.
Also a lot of pacing irregularities. You can see the bones of a Nora book and how she got there, but she definitely was not her best here.

Reflects really offensive levels of sexism and misogyny. An easy read but I'll be checking this book out (luckily I bought it second hand for peanuts).
The "normal" in this book includes coercive kissing and sex, bullying father, and heaps of sexism. At least the heroine saves herself from a kidnapper at the end of the book...
