Arggghhhh!!! This book had sooo much potential, great start, captivating plot.... but it failed to deliver in the end.
A man is accused of sexual advances on an employee, a baby is kidnapped, a woman disappears, an old story from past, and they are all linked in one way or another.
The biggest draw back was the way the policemen acted. They constructed a scenario based on mere supposition and they started accusing and arresting people. Their evidence was circumstantial at best. The holes in their investigation were so big a whale cu fall through them. It was absolutely ridiculous and annoying to see that unfold. Doing zero background check on your list of suspects it's mindblowing. Mind you, the book would have ended in 2 chapters cause the culprit would have popped out instantly.

Fun thriller but bit unrealistic. I’ve only read this book, not anything else in series. It’s standalone. Book was fast paced.

I really didn't enjoy the last couple of books in this series, I just wasn't into this one. I think i just outgrew the characters.

I found this book brilliant! It was easy to jump right in and really immerse myself in the story. I loved the drama and intensity of the story, packed with lots of details. The characters where detailed, with lots of personality and they really brought the story to life.
I loved the overall pace, as it made the story very realistic and created a great flow to the overall feel.
I truly enjoyed this book and story Abbott had to tell. It is a great DCI thriller and has definitely got me hooked.

Enjoyed the first half of this book but then it got very unbelievable. Guessed the killer early on too, it was very obvious.

i feel like i would have liked this more if i’d read some more of this series but it definitely still works as a standalone! truly had no idea where any of this was going until about 80% in; soooo many twists and things linking up unexpectedly
