Pretty Little Secrets is a poor attempt to make more money from a series that everyone seems to like. Of course, those who are buying the hype will try to read this book, too.
Spoilers ahead!
Hanna's story - 2/5 stars
Nothing new - just Hanna being bullied by her step sister and then falling in love with her sport instructor *rolls eyes* Not exciting at all.
Emily's story - 2/5
Emily was sent by her mother to spy some girls who work at a mall, believing that they were stealing stuff around Rosewood. In the end, Emily just got into the girls' little club because she wanted a friend like Alison.
Aria's story - 1/5 stars
It didn't make any sense, at all. Why did Aria get married in the first place? I mean, anybody would have had a brain to not do this. And with an eco-psycho? You got to be kidding me. The story fell flat and was pretty much unbelievable. I kinda' started to dislike Aria.
Spencer's story - 3 /5 stars
This is the only story I actually like. The premise was fairly used in the main books of the series - Spencer and Melissa fighting over a boy - but it was a funny ride, with unexpected turns. The sisters' revenge at the end made me laugh hard.
Although the resume on the back says that the stories are told from A's point of view, there are just a few pages when A narrates.

{my thoughts} - I had a hard time wanting to finish this book. I think I should have expected it because it wasn't read in what I would consider the order of when it had taken place via the storyline. However it was still a rather nice read and it gave more insight to the characters and their lives.
{hannah} - Hannah is in the transition of her mom moving and her dad and his new wife Isabelle and her Step sister Kate moving in. Over the Christmas Holiday she is forced to take part in Christmas celebrations that she wouldn't ordinarily have anything to do with because she is a Jewish. Anyways because of Isabelle and Kate her father makes her celebrate Christmas traditions and she isn't completely into it and Kate is still being all nasty to her. Hannah loses Lucas for a few weeks because he goes on vacation with his family and while he is gone she decides to make some changes in her life and one of those is to take better care of herself. When Lucas comes back he and his parents get her to divert from those changes and she feels better about herself for it. However, she and Kate get into a battle that leaves Hannah having the ability to blackmail Kate since Kate was trying to blackmail Hannah.
{emily} - Emily's family is going to have a rough Christmas due to insufficient bank funds. Her mother has a baby Jesus that she lent to the church for their nativity scene and someone had stolen it. Emily's mother asks her to spy on the girls that are assumed to be the culprits. Emily ends up getting a part time job in order to do her mother's bidding however, she ends up becoming friends with the girls and she ditches the plan her mom had set into motion. In the end the girls do the right thing.
{aria} - Her ex-boyfriend from Iceland comes for a pop visit. He is full of balonga and he drags Aria into it with him. They end up getting married and he leaves her the day after the wedding. She gets the marriage annulled and goes back home. However, the news of why he left her the way he did hits national television. It seems to me that Aria has very bad luck with guys ...
{spencer} - Spencer and her family decide to make a trip to Florida to spend some family time together at her Nana's beach house. Spencer and her sister decide they like the same guy only to discover in the end he wasn't really worth their time. However, before hand they fight over him like juveniles. It's rather amusing, but in the end they get even with him for the crap he pulls on them which I suppose is a good thing although they still don't share the sister bond they should. Too much in the past has tore them apart and too much that can't be repaired - however eventually maybe they will learn to get along in some fashion.

My actual rating is 2.5 ⭐️’s. Yea it was pretty entertaining, but I feel like it wasn’t a really necessary or needed book. I’m just saying that now, considering my opinion could change since I’m still only on the 6th book (Killer), so it might be of value later on. It’s still a pretty cute edition to the series, and a little entertaining, just not the best book.

Good lord this was a hard book to finish. I'm counting this as 2 books instead of just one, due to the content. 4 Short stories, each devoted to one of the 'Liars'. Secrets are formed that 'A' uses against them later in the series...but honestly I don't know why. It's not that big of a deal. These secrets were rather silly to be blackmailed over.

Ok this book was great, as are all the books that Sara Shepherd writes. But there is something . . . missing from this book. It just isn't a good as the rest of the series. There is an A but she doesn't send them any messages and they are completely oblivious to the fact that there is a new A. And the liars never net each other in this entire book and at some parts the book was boring me. This book isn't the best, but it's good to read and gives you a bit more insight to the series.

I guess I should have read this book in between books 4 and 5 rather after I've finished the series but I still enjoyed it.
As usually Sara Shepard didn't fail to make thus a great book.
I like how there is a secret for each of them but I would have preferred it if they corespondent with each other more. - June 2015
Re read- September 2017

Sara Shepard has run out of ideas. Pretty Little Secrets is not exciting at all. It should really have been published after Unbelievable not after Ruthless.
Hanna's story: So unbelievably pointless and stupid. She just flirted with a guy that went for somebody else. How is that in any way scandalous?
Emily's story: Boring but a little bit more interesting than Hanna's. It's so stupid how Emily's just sent off to spy on some girls that are stealing stuff.
Aria's story: More far-fetched and surprising as she gets married but held my interest.
Spencer's story: Bland and couldn't believe that Melissa and Spencer are that immature over a guy. But their revenge was really funny.
Overall, this book fails to hold my interest and I couldn't wait to finish each story and get it over with.
