I wouldn’t have read this if it wasn’t w/w. Most of the ballet terminology was correct, but here is where I’ll get nit picky. Did we really have to go with the trope of the glass in a pointe shoe? It’s infantilizing. Adults don’t actually act that petty. I’m just glad it wasn’t another dancer who was the culprit.

Also my biggest complaint. Pointe shoes. No one cares what brand or maker you wear, it’s not a point of status. Most dancers wear stock shoes, (which are handmade anyways) it’s not some sort of insult. My favorite Capezios were designed by a dancer. There are different styles for different feet. Also, anyonee can have custom Freed shoes, it’s not some privilege for principal dancers only. No one cares who your maker is but you.

Other than that, it was pretty fun, and put me in a nice ballet headspace. I just wish there were more realistic portrayals of the dance world out there.

Amazing characters, fantastic backdrop even if you don’t know much or anything about ballet, and an appropriately and fantastically tense buildup in this romance.

The descriptions of character traits and actions really make the words come off the page and allow you to truly immerse yourself in the story. You can feel the characters and move with them on their own journey through the ballet of life.

5 stars. Had to sleep on this one. Then I woke up and read it again. Why am I like this? Anyway, this was absolutely fantastic. I am obsessed with a good Ice Queen and Victoria is up there as top tier for me. From the moment we’re first introduced to her and she’s rude as hell I knew I was going to fall hard and I did. Again, why am I like this?? The romance between Victoria and Anna is on the slower side which I loved. The writing was really good and the chemistry between them was delicious and intense. I liked all of the ballet talk in this and how the plot moved along at such a steady pace. A beautiful romance, wonderful and fully fleshed out characters, I honestly couldn’t ask for more. I adored the hell out of this book and I already want to read it again.

I feel like there's nothing I could say about The Music and the Mirror that would do it any justice. You gotta experience it for yourself.
What a book.
