I couldn't quite get into the plot or the characters (except leo I loved him). Overall it was okay, maybe I just need more time with the characters and the whole roman thing, but I really enjoyed the multiple POVs.

Plot - 13/20
Characters - 7/10
Pace - 6/10
Ending - 8/10

The introduction of the Roman side of the gods is off putting and it took some time for me to get used to it. Finally at the end I can see where Riordan is heading with the story.

For whatever reason, it took me almost two months to get through this book a second time. It has nothing to do with the book itself -- though it was still a hard transition to new characters, third person POV, and alternating POVs, I love The Lost Hero and I love Riordan's expansion upon the world created in the PJO series. This time around, I'm significantly more invested in Piper than I remember being the first time, though Leo is still my ultimate fave. I have sudden Jason Grace feelings that I don't recall having during my first read and I'm looking forward to catching up with the rest of this series in a really serious way.

I don't really have an excuse for how long it took me to re-read this book, so I won't give one. All I'll say is that I'm really excited to keep going, to see how the immersion of Greek and Roman gods and demigods comes to pass. I think the world Riordan has created here is absolutely fascinating, and the way he's merged the likenesses of the gods and incorporated the hatred between the Greek and Roman demigods into historical conflicts is incredible. The best thing about this universe, in my opinion, is that it fits so seamlessly into the reality we live in. The incorporation of the gods into contemporary and historical society makes perfect sense within Riordan's vision, and I am super stoked to keep reading. This series has had a massive impact on me, in ways I can't even really begin to describe.

Didn't think it'd be worth 550 pages, but it almost was. (Yeah, it could have been tighter, but it's a fun book anyway.)

I mean, clearly written for 12 year olds, and takes a while to get to the obvious conclusion that there is a Roman camp. But i like it all the same. It’s just so creative and fun. And I think Rick Riordan does a nice job introducing new characters and helping you fall in love with them, while still living up and including the old. (Although I don’t really know how I would describe Jason differently than Percy? Haha. “Hero”. But still good.)

A Classic. Began it Jan 2022 thinking I would reread the whole series that yr so I could read trials of Apollo & just now finishing it lol. I do prefer the son of Neptune cast of characters (& then mark of Athena is the best I think)

4.5 stars I love Leo so much. I still like Jason and Piper, but their POVs were not nearly as good.
