I'm not really sure what to say about this one since it's getting to be quite far in the story so a lot of it is filling in the history and fitting in missing pieces of the larger puzzle.  There are several things that are/have been alluded to but haven't been confirmed.  There's also several things that have been mentioned off hand that have raised questions.

The plot of the gods having petty grievances even after ascension is really interesting because it talks about the ebb and flow of power and how there is a natural course of decline.  The measures that some take to retain power in those instances goes against what they should intrinsically believe.
