If you know where I could meet a fluffy haired, innocent, golden retriever, vampire like Aaron... please let me know. He is literally the sweetest, funny dude ever.

the cover is gorgeous, the premise made me curious. it's not for me, and i think that the editor did not do a good job.

I had high hopes for this book. Unfortunately, the writing quality and juvenile feel of the story let it down. There were elements I didn’t mind, but overall I would not continue the series if it did not improve by legions further on. The author has said she wrote this at 19 and has now continued the story when she is older, and I appreciate that honestly. But if the newer books are different in style and quality, this one would benefit hugely from a rewrite.

It's fine, issues with pacing and the book isn't sure what kind of book it wants to be. Is it about a vampire cult, is it about the two mains MCs?

I ended up skipping a lot of the fluff to follow the plot, only to get a rushed explanation at the end of the book to set you up for the next one.

It's very YA, although they're meant to be college age and older.

I'll still read the next book to see if these issues have been resolved moving forward.

Such a fun take on a vampire story! I thought it was really refreshing to have the vampires be goofy collage kids just trying to live their lives. And Kimberly was such a great FMC, she felt very real especially given how her backstory is presented. I like her learning to rely on other people as well and start to find happiness. And the slow build of tension not just between Kim and Aaron (love that when this series says slow burn the author was serious on the slow) but also the mystery of the Family and a mystery vampire, chef’s kiss.

I also really liked that all of the brothers had distinct and completely unique personalities, none of them are muddled together. It made for peak found family vibes. I can’t wait to see the progression of this series.
