I really liked it and looked forward to solving the mystery. Ready to read the Scorcher Trials

I wish I were able to not finish a book once I've started it - I would've stopped reading this 2 chapters in. Least engaging book ever written. No redeeming qualities. Don't waste your time, friends.

Kudos to whoever described this book as listening to a kid tell you how to beat a level in a video game. Hilariously apt.

I am a teen librarian and one of my patrons recommended this book to me. She told me if I like The Hunger Games I would like this book as well. The story is darker than the Hunger Games and left me feeling uncomfortable at times, especially during scenes involving the "Grievers," robotic blubbery, slug like creatures the size of cows that pursue Thomas and the other characters sent to a mysterious maze that appears to have no end. I know there is a sequel to this book and I was on the fence about reading it but now feel I have to. The Maze Runner does not have closure even though conflict was solved and the main characters appear to be out of harm's way for the moment. The epilogue completely ruined the end for me. Dashner should have made it the prologue for The Scorch Trials, the second book in the series. I feel like it was just a ploy to get readers sucked in to reading the next book, which, of course I feel like I have to do now.

I will recommend this book as I do feel it is has some good elements and would be an especially good dystopian fiction choice for a boy. I wouldn't say it is one of my favorites though - just OK.

I started it and the first chapter annoyed me so I have put it aside for now. I may go back to it at another point, but I've got too many things that I need/want to read right now to waste my time on something that I'm not enjoying.

It was hard for me to get into this book at first because the way it starts out is that you are right along with Thomas, the main character, who remembers nothing of his old life and is thrown into a strange place with 50 other teenage boys who know nothing of why they are where they are. So you are kind of in the dark with Thomas. It does get really intense and the book ends in a huge cliffhanger! I cannot wait to read the next one :)

I love when I don't know how a book is going to end. So many of these young adult fiction novels are becoming so predictable, and The Maze Runner kept things interesting. It was an easy, entertaining read with a great underlying message of control, hope, and strength.
