I found this book unexpectedly whilst doing a grocery shop. What a terrific find.
A shoulder problem and subsequent operation in Autumn 2014 put a huge dint in what exercise I was capable of. My weight rose and my mood plummeted.
When I was finally given the go ahead to restart, I chose to return to yoga, something I'd been doing at some level since I'd injured my back over 20 years ago. The benefits of daily practice since late October 2014 are easy to see; loss of 9kg and building strength and flexibility.
Being unable to return to triathlon training as I can't yet swim without difficulty, I wanted to advance the level of yoga practice I'm doing.
This book is perfect for that. Its paired photos and diagrams show exactly which muscles are strengthened and stretched with each pose. Each pose lists cautionary advice regarding injured or problematic joints. The diagrams are every bit as detailed as my old med school anatomy texts.
I can now safely increase the level of my practice without causing any of my various joint problems to flare up.
There was a companion book in the store, I might just return and buy it.
