Satisfying, though maybe more melancholy than previous Marples due to the main character’s poor health.
I wish I could say the motive for murder was dated and could never happen today, but alas

the resurgence of measles makes it plausible and downright scary. Nice work, anti-vaxxers. /sarcasmsubpolka's review against another edition

A good Marple, but not the best Marple.
The plot is a little thin (and this one definitely falls in the BOOK FROM 1962 HAS NOT AGED ESPECIALLY WELL bucket), but I’ll always stan my favorite septuagenarian detective.

sneaky sneaky i love when books mislead you on such a crucial part of the murder

i really liked the ending! because it’s really heathers self centred way that gets her murked, she really never considered that gettinG OTHER people sick was a possibility and that it might be more important to protect them rather than going to see her film star crush! very prescient, a post-pandemic world problem in a 1960s world

it was good but a lot of the time it very obviously points something out and you have to power through the next 30 pages before one of the characters comes the conclusion that you already did. A lot of convenient coincidences and filler but there were good characters so it was relatively enjoyable.
