This was a great read. I thought this one was better than the first book. I thought the storyline had a bit of intrigue and mystery. However, I thought there were times I felt bored. I thought that Luce was an okay character in this installment. I felt like Luce and Daniel's relationship was going down hill because of Luce's immaturity and selfishness. The concept is still interesting. The new characters were great. The ending was good. I hope book 3 gets better than this. Also, hopefully Luce gets her act together. Overall, an interesting read.

As with the Fallen Cover art. Torment is beautiful again. When first seeing the cover I wasn't disappointed. Its still had the dark gothic theme as the first cover and yet another gorgeous dress that I have to say I want. However, after reading the book I don't think the cover fits the story line. Also the edition I have I got a poster of the cover with and its so nice. I'm going to get it put on a canvas to hang in my room.

Torment is the second installement in the Fallen series by Lauren Kate and having totally fell head over heals in love with Fallen I was really disappointment. However, it was still a must read in needing to know what happened next. And no doubt I will get the next one.

So let's get on with the review. Torment takes place where Fallen ended. And we see Luce being put into a different surrounding in the form of the Calfornian Coast in a new school where its pupils are a mix of Nephlim and Human. I have to say this was one of the big negavites for me because the main reason I fell in love with Fallen was the gothic surrounding and dark atmosphere. With Torment I wasn't just getting it all.

We are introduced some amazing new characters though. Luce very quickly makes friends with Shelby and Miles. They are both really nice characters and you very quickly become fond of them. For me especially Miles. I am not in a Team Battle between Cam and Miles now lol. However, with Luce being in her new school its great we get to meet new charactes but we dont get to see enough of all the old characters that we grew to love in Fallen. So that was another huge negitive for me.

The ending of Torment seemed very rushed me. And very disappointing compared to amazing last few chapters for Fallen. Half the story could have been cut down and they ending should have left me begging for Passion. However, it didn't.

Overall though, if you are a fan of Fallen is it a must read even though I found is very slow, we still find out new and interesting things about Luce and get to meet some amazing new characters.

(Sorry If I'm talking gibberish and not making sense. Was having trouble doing a review for this one)

It took me a few months to get to sit down and read this book, but I re-started it last night late evening and just finished....now I can't wait until passion comes out.

“Loneliness in a crowd of people was the worst kind of loneliness, but she couldn't help it.”

I only started and continued reading this book because of the good reviews it got, but I was not impressed with the first 40% of this book and was about to give up.

Thankfully around 45% in, this book finally started picking up the pace. We meet a lot of new characters and see some old ones, and by the end of the book we have a full cast of characters.

I think my biggest problem with this book was Daniel. He’s just annoying, and at this point, I would prefer that literally any other love interest end up with Luce. I don’t know what it is; the secrets, the lies, but I found myself dreading all scenes with him in it. It’s obvious that he’s the main love interest and that he and Luce will end up together so I really hope his character improves.

Anyways, I love Shelby and Miles and they definitely saved this book!

“Change your hair.”
“Change my hair?”
“Fresh start,” Shelby said. “I’ve dyed mine orange, chopped it off. Hell, once I even shaved it after this jerk really broke my heart.”

Overall: I wasn’t going to read the next book in this series but after that ending, I think I will. We’ll see!

First, can I just say... I LOVE the covers of this series! Seriously... gorgeous. I try very hard not to judge a book by it's cover, but I have to admit that the covers of Fallen and Torment were what attracted me to the books at first.

As I've said before, I tend to be a little leery of YA titles. It's a 50/50 chance on whether I will like the book, even if the synopsis sounds interesting. I'm not sure why, but a lot of YA titles just drive me crazy. Not so with this series. This series, I loved! Lauren Kate tells a tale that is timeless. The struggles of love, acceptance, and life choices are present throughout one's entire life, which makes this series great for anyone.

Very rarely, I come across a book that leaves me thinking about it after I put it down. Torment is one of those books. The characters are fabulously created, and the story kept me engaged throughout the entire experience. It seemed that every time I had a few moments to spare, I would find myself wondering about what was going to happen next. Torment will definitely suck you in and keep your attention.

Any book that can raise emotions in the reader is special. At different times in the book, I found myself wanting to reach out and smack Luce, hug Daniel, and warn Miles. There were even occurrences where I would literally be smiling while reading and hubby would give me that "what the heck's going on" look from across the room. lol

Fallen and Torment are both great books that will keep you turning pages and wondering what will happen next. They will suck you into Luce's world, where you can see what's going on and feel the emotions being raised.

Although it's still not what I'd hoped it would be (after the disastrous first book)it's quite a lot better than the first book. The story is still weird and simple but some new characters are introduced and these characters just make the book.

It is okay, but is it worth reading the first book? No, absolutely not.

Honestly if I didn’t have immediate access to the next book I probably wouldn’t finish the series. This felt like such a filler book. It would be nice to get a little more insight to what is actually happening

love this

This was so good! It was even better than book one! As much as I loved Penn, I really love Myles and Shelby. Daniel still just continues to annoy me. At this point I wish Luce would just say F Daniel and get with Myles, even though I know that’s not going to happen. I’m super excited to start book three; if I remember correctly it’s my favorite of the series.
