I have read many short story collections from many different authors, Sci-Fi and otherwise. Usually, I am happy to find two or three gems in the whole collection while I feel I have to slog my way through the rest. Not so with this collection! I am happy to report that there is not a single dud here. And, in fact, some of my all time favorite short stories are included.

I confess to not being an Asimov super fan. Most of his novels are OK, although don't seem to withstand the test of time too well. So it was with some trepidation that I approached this volume. The book begins with Dr Asimov's introduction where he describes his hits and misses regarding his attempts to incorporate his predictions of the future. This is truly enjoyable to read. And the stories are spot on. Each is thought provoking, just as quality science fiction should be. I highly recommend you give this one a try!

"Hostess" and "The Ugly Little Boy" stood out to me as the two best stories of the collection -- the two that drew me in the most and will stick with me. I found the entire collection enjoyable, but would have given the book three stars were it not for these two.

Isaac Asimov never fails to hold the reader's attention, no matter how dated some of his concepts are. he is first and foremost a storyteller, and he is a master in this.
