This is a second read for me, and this time I focused on annotating instead of just reading the book. This definitely allowed me to enjoy the book a little more than I did originally. It is a great start to the series. Understanding this is a middle school/young adult book, it's a solid three and half stars. The mischief is a great comic relief.

I wish JKR weren't such a turd because this is just as magical and whimsical and warm as ever. she's really sullied her own legacy. that said I did knock the rating down a bit for the fatphobia, which just gets more egregious each time I reread this series.

I wanted to get into the fall spirit so I decided to pick this series up and I have no regrets! :)

I watched these movies when I was a child - so getting to revisit this series and read about the happenings that I had forgotten about (or the things that didn’t make it onto the screen) has been interesting!

I’m excited to continue!
