This was good, & I enjoyed it very much! Some of the plot lines fell a little flat for me, for example the instagram stalking; I just couldn’t wrap my head around why it was relevant to the deeper story.
SpoilerWhen that was revealed to Lucas, it felt very brushed off, which whatever.
I was just confused as to why it was there in the first place? I was also a bit disappointed with her brother’s storyline, & Rose’s family drama in general.
SpoilerWhy was Olly being a stripper such a huge thing? I mean maybe not the most lucrative career, but I feel like that’s not a huge deal; they were making it out as if he was in severe danger, with the bruises & random phone calls. His “pimp” or whatever I guess added drama but…also, why wasn’t this a more serious issue in the story if he was able to escape so easily in the end?
& as for Rose’s relationships outside of Lucas, I was just left feeling so disappointed with how her & Lina interacted throughout the entire book. For being best friends, they seemed very distant.
SpoilerAlso, what ever happened to Rosie’s book?? We never saw the aftermath of her finishing the first draft; did it even get published? The book needed so much more on this!
Lastly, Lucas’s physical therapy, & injury in general was so vague & nondescript! I just feel like a lot more could have been developed, & while the HEA for the couple was lovely, everything else felt like such a loose end that needs to be tied up. I do love a romance-writing (& -loving) heroine though :-) oh & the spicy scenes were fun
Spoilerminus the doing it without a condom on the first round blech

Rating: 4.5/5 stars

Rosie Graham is struggling with writer’s block when her apartment ceiling literally comes crashing down, forcing her to flee to her best friend’s apartment—which has already been promised to her friend’s extremely attractive cousin, Lucas.

This was super cute! I loved The Spanish Love Deception more but I really liked the characters and this had some absolutely ADORABLE moments (who doesn’t love a grand gesture?!) + an adorable dog.

I did feel like some of the side plots here were unnecessary, and the book felt a bit long as a result—plus if you’ve encountered pretty much any of my reviews before you know how I feel about third act breakups, and this one was my least favorite kind of third act breakup.

All of that said, I still REALLY enjoyed this overall, and Elena Armas is definitely a new favorite author of mine (as predicted!) I love the way she writes leading men, and both Aaron and now Lucas are top tier book boyfriends in my heart. I can’t wait to read The Long Game soon!

Recommended to anyone, but especially if you like: forced proximity; fake dating (sort of); books about authors

CW: Brief violence; discussion of physical injury

this was a much better read than TSLD. i liked how there was significantly less comment on the sheer size of the ML (iykyk), i liked a lot how there was more time with the characters alone together, how you could feel the connection between the characters, and how they had inside jokes. I didn't so much like the grand gestures and hallmark movie esque confessions. maybe that's just my personal preference

I liked this kind-of-sequel to the author‘s first book. At some parts it felt a bit wonky and he end was too dragged out for my taste, but overall it was nicely done. What I really appreciated was that the male lead could actually smile and show emotions? You don‘t find that very often huh. And he was (surprisingly) not that tall, not that muscular, no dark hair, no dark eyes - you know the drill - but an actual individual person and not copypasted from countless other romance novels.

The miscommunication went on too long for me to really enjoy this book. I did like that the FMC was an engineer turned writer, though I cringed at some of her life choices. And though I sympathized with Lukas’s injury impacting his life, he spent a lot of time wallowing.
