- “Life lesson, shithead. Careful who you pick a fight with. Someone insane might love him.”
- “I don’t care. Don’t you get it? I’m in love with you, Willa. Prickly legs, random carrots in your purse
, pregnant, not pregnant. I want you.” - “Keep talking like that and I’m going to fuck the filth right out of your pretty mouth.”
- “Cade is the embodiment of actions speaking louder than words. "
- “Do you think . . .” He peers back up at me now. “Do you think it would be okay if I called you mom too?”

Willa is hired by Cade Eaton to be the nanny for his young son Luke—but what is meant to be a summer commitment quickly starts to look like more.
THIS BOOK. I loved FLAWLESS, but HEARTLESS was a level above for sure. I’ve realized recently that I am an absolute sucker for a single parent romance, and this had everything I love about the trope in spades—an adorable child, found family vibes, parents and step-parents who will do anything for their children. Cade Eaton is also, as expected, extremely sexy and made for a great grumpy leading man who is “only soft for her.”
All of that said, for me the true highlight of this one was Willa herself. She was the best FMC I’ve read in a long time—ballsy and funny and smart and absolutely nuts but in the best way possible. I loved her so so much and loved seeing her get the happy ending she deserved.
CW: Mentions of infidelity; mentions of death of parent; mentions of miscarriage; mentions of pregnancy
Moderate: Infidelity and Pregnancy
Minor: Abandonment
