Didn’t like this one quite as much as the first Agatha Christie I read (The Mysterious Affair At Styles), but still good. The ending seemed to wrap up very quickly and it wasn’t quite as exciting as I hoped. I also was not a huge fan of the changing povs. Poirot was barely in this novel at all though he did end up solving the mystery in the end.

A perfect little mystery for Poirot that feels like Christie's best classics. The set up is great: a mysterious phone call, the odd clocks, an unidentified deadman. Unfortunately there is very little of Poirot himself, just like with his other later books, and the most interesting clues turn out to be red herrings- to my great disappointment. Agatha also loved to dabble with espionage in her fiction, so she threw in an awkward Cold War bit in there that just didn't fit. Stick to the cozy mystery, lady! I'm sad I'm running out of Poirot books.

Easily my favourite Chrisitie novel that I read this year, although I felt like 50% of the ending was just a throwaway.

A very enjoyable read, and my second H. Poirot novel. I think I'm hooked on Agatha Christie. The little twists and turns in her writing had me riveted and anxious for the big reveal.
