Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts has gotten off to an unusual start. It's the middle of summer and Harry is anxiously awaiting a visit from Professor Dumbledore in his bedroom at the Dursleys' house on Privet Drive. The last time Harry saw him - when he was in a one-to-one duel with Lord Voldemort himself.
💭 T H O U G H T S
There are parts of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince that I absolutely forgot about (like the main thing that happens), and I loved the bittersweet feeling I got like I was reading for the first time. It certainly made me feel all of the emotions, and I think this will likely end up being my favourite in the series this go round.
This installment made me take a step back and really realize all of the difficult things that have happened to Harry throughout his life. Re-reading this series as an adult has opened my eyes to the reality that Harry isn't invincible, despite the magical world. This book is an ode to friendship and I think that was definitely needed. Harry and Ginny's budding relationship is one of my favourite parts throughout the whole series. When I first read it, I never saw all the foreshadowing, but with this re-read I have appreciated that so much and just love them together so much.
Book 6 has offered a lot of answers, but has also left so much unanswered. It has set up for the finally installment nicely. I really loved my re-read, and Jim Dale's narration is fabulous once again. I am not sure if I am ready for this series to end, but will look forward to reading book 7 next month.
