I was really enjoying this book, the characters were developing nicely until the last 3/4 of the book. Then it started dragging on and felt predictable. It felt like the story took a wrong turn somewhere. I have really liked the authors other books so I am still a fan.

This book was an interesting mix of delectable imagery and an unflinching look at the destructive force of drug addiction.

I'm a big fan of Cathy Lamb's books, especially "Henry's Sisters" and "Such a Pretty Face." Her characters are eccentric, but likable. I had a harder time with "A Different Kind of Normal" at first. I wanted to like it, but I really didn't enjoy it in the beginning. The characters are a bit too eccentric. I found Jaden to be the most realistic character, but found myself questioning Caden and Rowan. Their dialog was completely unrealistic. However, once I pushed that aside and dove further into the book, I began to enjoy it. I think it's because I truly enjoyed Tate. As a kid who has faced so many challenges in his life, you wanted to see him find happiness so you keep reading to see if he does. I'm glad I finished the book, especially since I wanted to stop reading it several times. It's worth the read.

This book, like all of Lamb's that I read so far, encompasses real life issues...drug abuse, disabilities, maternal love, guilt, family relationships, even touching on bullying. I was certain I knew how it was going to end but I was wrong... happily wrong.

Amazing story of love, magic, sacrifice and family. I really look forward to what this author is going to write next. I love every book that she has written so far.
