This was a surprising like. The illustrations are not my style at all, but the way that Rosenthal manages to take the concepts of certain values and attributes and make them accessible to young children is fantastic.

This was a little too sweet for me but it is a nice book for helping little kids understand words like generosity, fair/unfair, sympathy, etc. Each word is explained by what the characters do with a cookie. Both the two year old and five year old like it and ask for it to be read often.

Cute! Gives examples of various words using cookies as the motivation.

This is a cute children’s book that uses cookies in different contexts to demonstrate the meaning of words such as honest, trustworthy, proud, etc. Great way to demonstrate these concepts to kids!

A wonderful book about Cookies, but filled with life lessons we can all benefit from....while eating a cookie of course!

I liked this book pretty well. Each page has a character trait, mostly positive, and then relates it to cookies. For example, "respect means offering the very first cookie to your grandmother." There are over a dozen pages like that, all with cute kids and some anthropomorphized animals, plus one or two adults, too. It's a sweet book, and if I'd read it when my kids were young, I have no doubt we would related these words to our own behaviors in everyday life.

I need to get this one for my classroom library! When I first looked at it, I was skeptical- it's kind of just definitions/examples, rather than a story. However, as I kept going, I realized, what a perfect way to work on definitions and understanding character traits in context! What each word means in the same context, in the same situations, so kids can really get it! Many kids only know "optimism" and "pessimism" only in the context of a glass of milk. Respect is a word they hear, something to give grownups, but what does that look like? GREAT book!
