I liked the podcast pretty well, and I actually liked the book better!

I would give this book a 3.5. It starts strong and has interesting ideas as well as an immersive surreal environment. The only drawback is that it drags a bit at the end.

I enjoyed it a lot. However, I really think that it could’ve been a 2-3 novel series. It was a lot of info packed into just over 300 pages. It still worked well but there were times I wish I could’ve known Keisha’s thoughts and feelings more.

Doesn't really improve in any way on the podcast (which I deeply love, perhaps more than any other Nightvale Presents production), with some of the most idiosyncratic vignettes from the show removed—no sign of the interdimensional Praxis burger joint, for example—and the suspense and tension somewhat diluted in book form. Make no mistake, Alice Isn't Dead is a creepy and moving story no matter what medium it's presented in. Keisha Taylor will always be an inspiring, heroic protagonist, and the book does add some texture and detail that might enrich the podcast on subsequent listenings, especially in the development of Alice. But there's no way to shake the feeling that this is a generally tame, conventional reimagining of one of the decade's most essential thrillers.

I really enjoyed this! I want more of the story.

Only criticism would be that I wish it was more fleshed out. The climax was very abrupt and the instant “resolution” style isn’t my favorite. Gimme the drama and the pages! Overall a super fun read
