Finally, a retelling/prequel to a fairytale that makes sense. I've read a lot of these sorts of stories and they always change key points or take the plot on a complete tangent. Henry has created a depth to the island, to Peter and to Hook that is completely plausible. This my new head canon.

Full disclosure: I AM a Peter Pan Super Fan. Not just Disney, all the things. However, this is my first "villain redeemed" type book I have ever read.

AND I FRIGGEN LOVED IT!

Some people in the reviews say that this book is too graphic. It isn't. You want graphic, go read the original Battle Royale. This was the Goldilocks of graphic. It was just right! The author saved the bloodiest parts to show how monstrous Peter Pan is. The author wrote Peter Pan to be the a-hole that he is. She made Hook lovable, and relatable (to me, who has a rage issue).

The book is written well in that at no point did I feel like reading it was a chore. In fact, I had a hard time putting it down. The night before I finished the book, I told myself I wasn't ready for it to end. But I so wanted to read the rest of the story! To me, this how a GREAT book makes you feel!

I do admit I have a bias. That out of the way, I found this book to be entertaining, moving, relatable, and really, all around, just a great read! I am excited to read more by this author!

Well, consider me beyond creeped out! I am shocked, scared, heartbroken and angry. Peter Pan is a little shit.

I loved reading this book the same way people love watching horror movies from behind the safety of their cushions. I highly recommend this to everyone who knows the story of Peter Pan, because I guarantee you will very quickly change your mind about him. Not growing up and staying young forever isn’t a blessing, it is a curse.

I cannot believe it took me so long to read this book and I’m totally shocked by it. I never really liked Peter Pan to begin with, he was always needy and childish. This book totally played to the whole idea I had of him. The lost boys were exactly that, lost. They needed a home, someone to love and care for them and that came in the form of Jamie. He is one of the best characters I have read, he is flawed, broken and angry. But, he has grown so much throughout the book. And uncovering all the secrets of Peter Pan and the island is just nerve shattering.
